Apple’s Mac Pro has been quietly updated

While Apple might have been busy unveiling the new MacBook Airs, MacBook Pros and the next-generation MacBook Pro, oddly enough despite all the rumors, the Mac Pro was missing from the WWDC keynote. This led many to believe and wonder if Apple was truly planning on discontinuing the Mac Pro once and for all. Luckily for Mac Pro users, it seems that isn’t the case. Apple has refreshed the Mac Pro lineup albeit rather quietly and without any fanfare. While the Mac Pro was indeed refreshed with some new hardware, sad to say there were a couple of features omitted such as USB 3.0 and/or Thunderbolt ports.

However if that isn’t an issue for you, you might be interested to learn that the new Mac Pro base model will sport a 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Xeon processor and 6GB of RAM and will retail for $2,499. Next up is the more expensive Mac Pro model and will feature a 2.4GHz 6-core Intel Xeon processor and 12GB of RAM. Both models will feature an ATI Radeon 5770 GPU and a 1TB hard drive. Last but not least is the server version of the Mac Pro. It will be powered by the same 3.2GHz quad-core processor as the base model but it will sport 8GB of RAM, two 1TB hard drives and will come with ATI Radeon 5770 graphics.
