The Sonos SUB is a wireless subwoofer

Sonos is a company who are best known for creating wireless speaker systems. One of the perks of their products is that they tend to be space savers, which thanks to the wireless technology will allow them to be placed pretty much anywhere in the room. However that also means that larger and more dedicated components such as the subwoofer have typically been left out of the equation – at least until now where Sonos has unveiled the SUB, a wireless subwoofer that should provide a decent bass response and is expected to play nicely with Sonos’ other wireless sound systems, like the Play:3 and the ZonePlayer 100.

Setup of the device is reportedly pretty simple – plug it into your power outlet, connect it to the same wireless network as your other Sonos wireless sound systems and it should be good to go! The subwoofer itself will feature twin drivers, with each driver facing each other in an open cabinet which has been designed to reduce the amount of vibrations emanating from the subwoofer. Two class-D amplifiers are also used to power the drivers. So how much will all of this cost you? The Sonos SUB will be launching in mid-June and will retail for $699 in a high-gloss black finish, while a black matte version will be available in September for $599.
