Sharp Pantone 5 107SH comes with a built-in radiation sensor

We’re not sure how many people would actually need a phone with a radiation sensor built into it, but if you do, you might be interested to learn that in Japan, Sharp has announced the Pantone 5 107SH. Given the Fukushima tragedy that took place last year, we guess the residents in Japan can’t be blamed if they’re worried about potential radiation from the aftermath. No word on pricing just yet but those living in Japan can expect to pick it up from Softbank sometime in mid-July.

Activation of the radiation sensor appears to be pretty straight forward via a big and round physical button located on the front of the device. When pressed, it will launch a radiation reader app which will supposedly provide accurate radiation level readings and takes about 10 seconds to process. Apart from its radiation sensor, what else does the Sharp Pantone 5 107SH pack under its hood? Expect to find a 3.7” WVGA display along with a 1.4GHz single-core processor, a 4MP rear-facing camera along with water- and dust-proof features. It will also come with Android 4.0 preinstalled and will be available in eight different colors for would-be customers to choose from.
