Raspberry Pi to receive camera add-on
You can say that the Raspberry Pi has proven to be quite the success since it was launched. After all, where else can you get a low powered computer which costs a mere $35 from your bank account? Of course, while the Raspberry Pi is more bare bones than usual as it lacks a case, that does not mean you cannot do much with it. Despite the fact that it runs on a 700MHz ARM-based processor, there is a plethora of connectivity options such as HDMI, USB, and Ethernet ports, and this time around the Raspberry Pi team decided that it is time for some add-on peripherals – with the first of them being a camera (which does seem to be quite the obvious choice in this day and age). A working prototype is already available, where the camera will hook up with the pins left exposed in the center of the Raspberry Pi system board. A 14-megapixel shooter makes up the prototype, but the completed camera will most probably have a lower resolution count in order to stay in line with the budget minded pricing of the Raspberry Pi. No idea on how much the camera add-on will cost when it is available, anyone willing to venture with a guess?
