Panasonic offers wireless charging across 27 Tokyo locations
Panasonic has just announced that they will be going wireless across 27 locations throughout the bustling metropolis known as Tokyo – and we are not talking about Wi-Fi connectivity here, but rather, wireless charging. Yes sir, the stuff that you always read about where there is no longer any need for your device to remain tethered to a power supply, but rather, you just place the device on a particular surface, and more often than not, the wonders of induction charging will begin its work to fully fill up your thirsty battery with electricity to last another day at the office.
Panasonic has teamed-up with several major Japanese chains, also including Tully’s Coffee, FamilyMart, Jumbo Karaoke, Speed Nail and other big names. Obviously, smartphone users would be the primary market target, alongside other gizmos that are compatible with the Qi Wireless Technology standard. Even better is this bit of news – the devices can be charged up for free, yo! Apart from that, the end of March 2013 would see Panasonic have a glimmer of hope to realize their dream of incorporating such wireless charging across 90 different locations within Tokyo. Will other countries follow suit? Only time will tell.
