Motorola Defy/Defy+ gets highly functional Android 4.0.4 ROM
The Motorola Defy and its sibling, the Defy+ aren’t exactly the most well known or most popular Android smartphones out there. However that’s not to say that there aren’t fans of the device out there and thanks to the hardworking Android developer community, a reportedly stable and almost fully functional Android 4.0.4 ROM (based off the Android 2.2 Froyo kernel) for the Defy and Defy+ is now available for download. This is courtesy of XDA developer Epsylon3 who has made some pretty significant progress with his ROM.
Unfortunately there are some kinks, and for starters users can expect to find a somewhat buggy hardware accelerated UI, missing camera panorama features, Chrome, Face Detection and Network Usage Stats. However the rest of the phone (and the important bits) works, such as phone calls, text messaging, camera, etc. If you’re bored of playing around with Android 2.2 Froyo and 2.3 Gingerbread ROMs, then this Android 4.0.4 ROM might be worth flashing onto your Defy/Defy+. More information on the ROM and its download can be found on the XDA forums.
