According to Bethesda, it will release a massively multiplayer online version of the game called The Elder Scrolls series sometime next year. The game will be playable on either PC or Mac. The game itself is said to be set in a time that is a millennium before the events of the latest Elder Scrolls game, Skyrim. For the next online version it will apparently take place across all of Tamriel during a time when daedric Prince Molag Bal is raining havoc down on the entire realm. The alleged game will feature three player factions along with player-versus-player (PvP) combat.
Director Matt Firor told GameInformer (via Kotaku), “The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.” Firor himself was on the team that worked on another fantasy MMORPG called Dark Age of Camelot. There were rumors floating about the internet that suggested the online version of the game would be unveiled this month.
With the alleged launching to be this month, many were expecting more information from Bethesda while others were hoping for some sign of it to be launched at this year’s E3 which will be in June. An even earlier rumor also suggested that the three factions that were mentioned earlier are symbolized by a lion, a dragon and a bird of prey but that has also not been confirmed yet. For now, what we do know is that the game will most probably be released sometime next year but GameInformer promises more details in its June issue which will go on sale next week. If you haven’t already noticed, the cover for the next issue is pictured above.
