Apple launches Free App of the Week and Editor’s Choice initiative
With over half a million apps to choose from on the iTunes App Store, how will you find the app that’s suited to your needs? While free apps are a great way to try out the app before purchasing, some apps don’t come with a free version, thus putting iOS users in a predicament as to whether they should fork out the money for it. Well it looks like Apple has since launched a new initiative which has removed the “App of the week” feature and has replaced it with the “Editor’s Choice”. This should give users a better indication as to what sort of apps Apple finds “worthy” enough to be considered an Editor’s Choice. On top of that, Apple has also launched the “Free App of the Week” program (via Jeff Scott), and as the name itself has implied, every week an app from their App Store will be promoted as free of charge, thus giving iOS users a chance to get their hands on apps that might have otherwise cost them some money. This week’s Free App is Cut the Rope: Experiments. So if the Top Paid or Top Free apps don’t do a good enough job of narrowing your choices down, hopefully these two new initiatives will do the trick.
