I guess one can say that the Windows Phone 8 operating system is as elusive as a sabertooth tiger – while the latter is widely believed to have been extinct, you can never quite tell across the vast expanse of the earth, can you? After all, it might end up being a rare living fossil like the coelacanth, although the chances are highly unlikely to happen. Speaking of Windows Phone 8, an early build of it has been spotted, with build number 8.0.9662.0 recorded in a social networking app and is visible under the device statistics sections. The thing is this – is it a Photoshop job, or the genuine article? It really depends on which side of the fence you are on, and it is always wise to take rumors with a pinch of salt – or an entire tablespoon-ful in this case.
Windows Phone 8 is tipped to arrive sometime later this year, with a summer announcement widely anticipated by the rest of the industry. It is said to offer dual core CPU support, additional display resolutions, and NFC capability amongst other features. Word on the street has it that Windows Phone 8 has already begun internal testing at Microsoft from March 30th onwards, so what you see above might very well be the real deal.
