Viacom video lawsuit vs YouTube gains new lease of life
It seems that the video lawsuit by Viacom against YouTube of Google has been revived in an U.S. appeals court. Viacom is not the only one behind this lawsuit, as the English Premier League and different film studios as well as TV networks have thrown accusatory fingers at Google’s direction, touting that Google has closed an eye to let YouTube display copyrighted videos on its website without prior permission from the real owners of the intellectual property. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals mentioned that a reasonable jury could very well have agreed that YouTube knew of specific infringing activity on its website – hence giving the lower court a slap in the face for dismissing said case. None of the parties involved had issued any statement or commented on the situation so far, which is always a wise thing to do. How do you think the entire shebang will pan out, and whose favor will it be ruled?
