Samsung rumored to be building the fourth Google Nexus handset

Ever wondered how Google goes about picking manufacturers to build their Nexus handsets? Well just like any job, manufacturers will have to submit a proposal to Google and make their bids to land the gig. HTC was the first who was followed by Samsung who made the second and third Nexus devices (Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus respectively), so who could be next? A report from Digitimes has indicated that Google has already chosen Samsung as the manufacturer to build the company’s fourth Nexus device.

”Since Samsung has become the top vendor of Android smartphones, Google will continue to have Samsung develop its next-generation Nexus models, leveraging Samsung’s innovation ability with regard to the Android platform, and its ability to control the supply of key components.”

So far it has been rumored that both LG and HTC have expressed their interest in building the fourth Nexus and we guess now we can add Samsung to that list. Given that the Nexus is refreshed on a yearly basis, we guess there’s still a couple of months to go before more details have been revealed. Until then generous doses of salt is recommended.
