Pokemon Tretta revealed to be a game headed for the arcades

A while back, the trademark filing for a certain Pokemon Tretta left many wondering what exactly did Nintendo have up their sleeves. Well the good news for Pokemon fans, particularly those in Japan, is that the Tretta has been revealed. As pictured above, the Pokemon Tretta is an arcade game similar to that of Sega’s Dinosaur King machines. Players will insert a coin to play and will basically start looking for Pokemon in a variety of areas i.e. grass plains, wetlands, etc.

Upon discovering a Pokemon, the game will switch to battle mode where players will be able to call up three Pokemon by scanning their Tretta, a square card-like device with Pokemon pictures on top of them. We guess to a certain extent these cards could be thought of as a pokeball. The method of catching a Pokemon appears to be the same as the console version where you throw a pokeball in order to capture it. Apparently when you successfully capture one, the machine will dispense you a new Tretta. The game is expected to come out in July, although no word if it will be made available in arcades outside of Japan.
