Netgear R6300 is first 802.11ac Wi-Fi router in the world
What makes the Netgear R6300 so special compared to the other Wi-Fi routers that are in the market? First off the list would be the obvious certification – it is touted to be the world’s first 802.11ac Wi-Fi router, offering support for 5th generation (5G) Wi-Fi, and it will also not cut off its roots with the past by being backwards compatible with 802.11a/b/g/n standards. Underneath the hood, you will find Broadcom’s 5G Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11ac chips, and Netgear claims that their latest addition to the market is up to three times compared to today’s 802.11n routers. On paper, the R6300 is more than capable of achieving speeds of up to 1300Mbps on 5GHz and 450Mbps on 2.4GHz, and will also be chock-full of features including ReadySHARE printer support, DLNA, parental controls, automatic Wi-Fi security, AirPrint support, advanced Quality of Service (QoS), and IPv6 support amongst others. Those who are interested to jump into the future, strap on and enjoy the ride this May as the Netgear R6300 arrives with a $200 price tag. [Press Release]
