London Underground gets real-time service alerts in Google Maps
The London Olympics which will be held later this summer will be the sports centerpiece for the year, barring the Euro 2012 for football (soccer) fans, of course. Having said that, I guess it is timely that Google has updated their Google Maps software to include real-time service alerts for the London Underground, ensuring that commuters as well as travellers will be notified ahead of time should there be any potential disruptions to their planned journeys. The service alerts will be provided via the UK Google Maps website and on Android-powered devices such as smartphones and tablets, and Google is even thoughtful enough to throw in planned engineering works for weekends in its journey planner. Whenever you want to view a service alert at any time, all you need to do is click on a station in a timetable or in the public transport directions results, and voila – they ought to be pulled up in a jiffy. It ought to be an interesting and far more punctual experience for most who rely on public transport then, I guess.
