So you think that you have the coolest lighter amongst your friends with a Zippo, while they use a stock plastic cased light each time they need a smoke? Well, here is an alternative to the Zippo, known as the Jigger USB lighter. It has been around for a couple of years already, but somehow, we missed earlier coverage only to see the Jigger USB lighter gain a new lease of life in news rounds recently. It makes plenty of sense, really, with electric cigarettes being around for some time already, so why not have a Jigger USB lighter to go along with the overall theme? This lighter works differently from the conventional model, as there is no need to play with chemical combustion but rather, it will use an electric induction coil to heat material to the point of burning – just like your car’s cigarette lighter.
The Jigger USB Lighter will arrive in a couple of models for your consideration – the USB Gadget Lighter and the more prestigious USB Prestige Lighter, where the former retails for $29.99 while the latter goes for $49.99 a pop. This is definitely an interesting peripheral to have plugged into your free USB port on a computer, and charging time ranges anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. It is not a lifelong product though, as the Jigger USB lighter is said to be good for up to 250 lightings, and assuming you smoke 1 pack of 20 cigarettes a day, that translates to roughly 13 days. Best to stick to an ordinary lighter or matches then, no?
