HTC One X camera mod will improve photos and videos taken by removing stock software limitations

When HTC announced the HTC One X at MWC 2012, one of the features that the Taiwanese company boasted about its new flagship device was its camera. While the phone certainly has the ability to take some stunning photographs, some limitations of its camera software has caused some photos to turn out mediocre. Putting custom settings, proper lighting conditions and photography experience aside, XDA member NODO-GT has released a camera mod for the HTC One X, dubbed the HQ Camera For One X, that will supposedly unlock the camera’s true potential and remove whatever limitations that were previously there.

The mod will allow users to take photographs that are uncompressed, leading to sharper images although this will undoubtedly take up more memory. In order to accommodate the larger file sizes that is a result of uncompressed images, the mod will also remove the image size limitation that was previously set for the software. Videographers will also be pleased to learn that the mod will increase the video compression of 1080p Full HD videos to 20Mbps, resulting in sharper videos.

Unfortunately due to the number of crashes and bugs reported, the mod has since been taken down while the developer works out the kinks. However the developer is looking for private testers and if you own an unlocked and rooted HTC One X device, head on down to the XDA forums to get in contact with him.
