Apparently the idea behind such a move is to create games that are more immersive, allowing the gamer to essentially act as an actor within the narrative and having the characters in the game respond accordingly to the player’s tone of voice and body stance. Sounds like a good idea – imagine game characters reacting positively to a more confident tone of voice and body language.
“We’re also looking at how we can make people more like actors within a narrative. I think the work done in Mass Effect 3 has been awesome. We want to get to the stage where not only can Kinect detect what you’re saying but also tone of voice and body stance, and work that into the narrative. There are some really compelling experiences to be gained from that.”
No word on when we could be seeing such a Kinect hit the market, but what do you guys think?
