Some of you gamers out there might be familiar with the South Korean gaming company, Nexon. If you’re not, you will probably recognize some of the games they have put out such as MapleStory and Dragon Nest. In any case according to reports, it seems that Nexon has approached game publisher giant EA about the possibility of them making a bid for the publisher. When asked about it by Joystiq, EA gave a statement saying, “We don’t comment on rumors and speculation.” We have to agree that it hardly sounds like a no, but perhaps we might be reading too much into things.
Speaking to GI International, Wedbush Securities analyst, Michael Pachter revealed that he does not believe that this deal can happen. He went on to say that there is no synergy between Nexon and EA and that Nexon’s shareholders would essentially be buying a different company from the one they bought at Nexon’s IPO in December. What say you? If this is to be believed, would Nexon have a shot at taking over EA?
