Apple refunds new iPad buyers in Australia
Like clockwork, Apple has adhered to the ruling that they will need to refund purchasers of the new iPad who reside Down Under after it was decided that this group of people were misled by Cupertino’s slick marketing of the LTE enabled device. Just last week, an Australian consumer watchdog took Apple to court, claiming that Apple did not manage to successfully get the right message across where LTE connectivity of the new iPad is concerned – after all, the new iPad models sold in that part of the world did not work with any of Australia’s LTE cellular networks.
Apple has since sent out notes to all customers affected, offering refunds to them as an option, and mentioning that while it does not play nice with LTE networks in Australia, it will still be able to support ”fast cellular networks” such as HSPA, HSPA+, and DC-HSDPA. With similar complaints concerning the vague marketing of LTE connectivity having spread to the Land of Mordor, er, New Zealand, as well as other international markets, will Apple be slapped with a similar lawsuit and tasked to do the same?
