Apple 128k Macintosh prototype ‘Twiggy’ on sale for $100,000 by Steve Woz
The ‘other Steve’ at Apple has dropped a bombshell on us. It seems that he owns the only completed Twiggy drive machine in the world, which will definitely be more valuable than the 128k Mac prototype that we spotted at the end of January which did not work. Steve Wozniak’s 128k Mac prototype has a fully working 5.25″ Twiggy drive, and it has just surfaced on eBay for a cool $100,000. If you have always wanted to own a piece of history and requires far less maintenance than a classic car, I guess you cannot do worse than the $100,000 starting price.
According to The Woz, “The computer and keyboard are authentic and original, dated 1982-83.” You don’t say! If you decide to drop such serious coin for it, it will include a copy of the patent for the Mac’s housing shell. Similar to the rest of the 128K and 512K Macs, you will find the original Macintosh team’s signatures emblazoned on the inside mold of the computer’s chassis.
