Wasteland 2 now on Kickstarter

Remember Wasteland, the post-apocalyptic role-playing video game that came out back in 1988? The game served as the main inspiration to Interplay’s highly acclaimed RPGs – Fallout and Fallout 2. Well, for those of you that didn’t get a chance to play the game back in day, there’s a chance of a sequel being made thanks to Kickstarter. Brian Fargo, executive producer of Wasteland and Fallout has managed to round up the original game’s primary designers to come up with Wasteland 2. However, the game might not see the light of day – without the backing of the public.

Since game publishers have denied Fargo and his team the finances and backing to make the game happen, he has decided to turn to Kickstarter for help. Putting the game up for pre-order at $15, and offering additional rewards for anybody who pays more, the Kickstarter project will need $900,000 in order to proceed.  The Kickstarter page went live yesterday and it has already received over 50% of its funding, largely thanks to 5 backers who have pledged $10,000 each so far (one of them being Razer’s CEO, Min-Liang Tan).
