Valve’s Portal clone for Android pulled over legal issues

Some of you guys might recall a couple of weeks ago, we reported on what appeared to be a clone of Valve’s Portal game making its way onto Android. At that point in time, it seemed that development of the game was going pretty well, and if you were looking forward to some Portal-clone action for your Android device, you could be in for a disappointment as Valve has caught wind of the development and basically said no to the whole thing.

The main developer, tibers28, had apparently contacted Valve from the get-go and kept the project going while waiting for a reply. It seems that by the time Valve’s legal team got back to him, several levels were already completed and work was being done on creating the portal gun itself, but it looks like the game was not meant to be, thanks to Valve’s legal team who replied, “Thank you for contacting us about this. Yes, we do mind if you make your game playable on mobile devices.” While huge corporations do make an exception now and then regarding their intellectual property, we guess this was just not meant to be one of them.
