But the acquisition only concerns the game studio of FutureMark and does is benchmarks. Historically, Rovio has been building casual games, and Angry Bird, their huge -but only- commercial success is a relatively simple 2D game, and if Rovio is to expand its portfolio, it needs the computer graphics talent from FutureMark. This is a great acquisition, and I’m just about certain that the FutureMark team will bring a very strong technical expertise to Rovio. Now the question is: what will they come up with next? Will they become a “Gameloft”, or will they create the next-generation Angry Bird game? What would you like to see come out of this acquisition?
