While the NOOK Simple Touch is a device designed to read eBooks, Andrew (a self-proclaimed cartoon rabbit) decided to turn it into a keyboard that could mimic the function of the Optimus Maximus keyboard (a keyboard with LCD screens in each key that could be configured to perform different functions). He rooted the NOOK Simple Touch, installed Android on it, and created a webpage that converted touches on the virtual keys into keyboard strokes.
While it doesn’t work very well at the moment, it still works – which makes it one of the few E Ink keyboards available right now. You can head over to Andrew’s blog to find out more about the project or watch a video of it in action above.
