The Nokia N9 is not known to be powered by the Android platform, but that does not mean that enterprising users have not tried giving Google’s mobile operating system a go on the smartphone. NITDroid managed to come up with an alpha release that sees Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Nokia N9, but since this is an extremely early build, it makes sense that not everything works. Known as “Project Mayhem”, this port will see the touchscreen work (which is the least one should expect, I say), in addition to screen rotation as well as automatic brightness. Some of the Nokia N9’s hardware buttons also work, in addition to the headset buttons. YouTube video playback is choppy, so you might want to take note of that, audio and video playback are good to go, while Bluetooth and USB connectivity plays nice as well. Still, if you want a pure Android user experience, get a native Android-powered smartphone to begin with. I am quite sure you will not regret the experience.
