Nokia Lumia 800c hits the China market
Nokia was once a mighty juggernaut where mobile phones are concerned, but that fact did not guarantee its position as top dog – no sir, far from it. In fact, you can say that the introduction of the iPhone from Apple in 2007 proved to be the start of Nokia’s decline, although the Finnish company has certainly done their bit in arresting the slide. One of the more recent masterstrokes would be to make sure they sided with the Windows Phone platform from Microsoft, where we have already reviewed both the Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710. How about trying to make a headway into the world’s most populous country? That is what Nokia did with the Lumia 800c launch in China, where it will be supported by China Telecom Ltd.
The Lumia 800c is just the beginning, as Nokia plans to introduce other Lumia models for China Mobile Ltd. and China Unicom Ltd. in that part of the world. It would be interesting to see Nokia’s future quarterly earnings report as to the impact of their presence in China. Will we see Nokia’s competitors follow suit shortly afterwards?
