There is nothing quite like a poor ending to a movie or video game, especially after the journey there has proved to be quite the exciting one. Mass Effect 3 fans will be able to know what I am talking about – it seems that a fair number of fans are now lobbying for a new, alternative ending in an online campaign. According to Mass Effect 3’s executive producer Casey Hudson, he did mention via an online post that the current conclusion to science fiction action trilogy generated “a lot of discussion and debate,” but being the man that he is, he remained firm on the decision. According to Casey, “We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending. To do otherwise would betray the agonizing decisions Shepard had to make along the way.”
There is a “Demand a Better Ending for Mass Effect 3″ page over at Facebook, where it had already picked up over 42,000 “likes” by Monday, while a “@RetakeME3″ account at Twitter garnered nearly 5,000 followers in the process. Not only that, fans have also filed a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission, claiming that BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts remained clandestine on how the trilogy would end. Do you think this campaign would see an alternative ending being introduced?
