InfoSonics unveils Verykool s700 Android smartphone

If one were to take a look at the different companies that produce budget smartphones, you might realize that a good majority of them come from countries like China, i.e. Huawei and ZTE. Well for those looking for something a little more “local”, you might be interested in taking a look at InfoSonics, a San Diego based manufacturer who has recently taken the wraps off their first Android smartphone, dubbed the Verykool s700.

While the design of the phone itself isn’t too shabby, under the hood there’s really nothing to shout about. The phone will come with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box – yes you read that right, with a custom user interface on top. It will also feature a 3.5” HVGA display, a 2MP rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity and will come with support for dual-SIM card.

The phone will pack 2GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD, a 1,400mAh battery and can even be used as a 3G USB tethering device. No word on its pricing or availability, but given its specs we don’t expect it to break the bank. [Product page]
