Google Chrome hacked in minutes at Pwn2Own

It looks like Google can’t claim that its Chrome browser is invulnerable to hackers anymore. At this year’s Pwn2Own contest, Google Chrome was successfully hacked by VUPEN Security via a zero-day exploit – and all they needed were just a few minutes. Details of the exploit were not revealed, but it allowed the hacked to escape Google sandboxing and run code across the entire Google Chrome browser platform. For their efforts, the hackers received $60,000 and 32 points in the ongoing contest.

Fortunately for us Google Chrome users, Google will be addressing the exploits to make sure no future attacks will be able to use the same approach. Hopefully the exploit won’t be taken advantage of before Google releases a fix for it.
