If the reports are to be believed, the certification was granted by the Chinese government on the 22nd of March. Unfortunately based on the certifications, it would appear as though the iPad that was approved is most likely the WiFi-only model as the LTE model (will most likely end up as 3G on China’s networks for now) would require a completely different set of certifications on its own.
It seems unlikely that Apple would be releasing the WiFi model first, followed by the LTE model, which means that if you are currently living in China and you’re looking forward to getting your hands on the new iPad, you might be in for a wait as the LTE model is pending approval. In any case, we will be keeping our eyes peeled, so check back with us at a later date for future updates. In the mean time if you really cannot wait, there are always grey market imports that you could check out although you can probably expect to pay a small fortune it, and we also have to wonder how Proview feels about this.
