WildTangent launches Android game store for the Toshiba AT200
While our smartphones and tablets may not be able to offer the same type of gaming we can expect from a dedicated game console like the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, they sure make pretty good portable gaming devices. While it is debatable as to whether they could ultimately replace the need for handheld consoles, the good news for Toshiba AT200 owners is that WildTangent has announced a partnership with the Japanese company to provide a games store for the AT200 tablet in Europe.
The games store will be available through Toshiba Places, and in addition to letting users purchase games, users can also rent the games through a pay-to-play model. The games will be free to play upon first launch, but subsequent sessions are charged as low as 9p each time. No word on when this service is expected to be made available for the rest of the world, but what do you guys think? Does the pay-to-play model hold any merit?
