Sony is rolling out its new Cyber-shot lineup with an updated “Exmor R” CMOS sensor with higher pixel count, a new Clear Image Zoom feature, enhanced bi-directional Optical image stabilization with “Active Mode”, improved low light image capture and faster AF speed of approximately 0.13 second in daylight, 0.25 seconds in low-light.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 is the rugged model of the product line and, despite its toughness, it delivers an elegant and innovative design that comes in several dual-color versions. I particularly appreciate the nice texture featured on the green/silver and orange/gray models. Sony has pushed the envelope on the design side for this model and for the beautiful glass-design TX200v that was announced over a month ago. Bringing uniqueness to the table in terms of form factor and colors might be a good avenue to differentiate the compact camera and the Smartphone offering.
On the performance and feature side, the slim rugged camera is Waterproof, dustproof, freeze-proof and shockproof and boasts a 16 MP “Exmor R” CMOS sensor, a 25mm equivalent lens with 4x optical zoom, a 3.0-inch LCD touch screen.
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 will be available in May in orange, green, black, blue and pink for approximately $330
