Motorola Droid 3 update coming soon?
It can be said that Motorola was saved from the brink by Google’s Android operating system, where their Droid smartphone helped them win fans, old and new ones alike. Since then, Motorola has not looked back one bit since then, and have churned out a series of extremely impressive smartphones along the way. As for the original Droid, it is now in the third iteration, aptly known as the Droid 3. It seems that the Motorola Droid 3 might be getting an update pretty soon, as the developer community managed to come across a couple of new builds which can be flashed in stock recovery without having to root the device. There is one issue involved with developer builds – you cannot revert to an older version the moment the new build is flashed, so if there are major bugs present on the new flash, you’ve got to learn live with it, just like how we have to adapt to holes in our ozone layer.
It is always advisable to wait for Verizon to release the Droid 3 firmware update officially, and we do hope that the new update might also drop hints as to whether Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is also in the pipeline. If you do not mind older phones, then the Droid 3 is a good bet – otherwise you can always look out for the Droid 4 that has LTE connectivity.
