Microsoft testing dual-core processors for Windows Phone 8?
Looking forward to dual-core Windows Phone devices? It looks like the phones are being tested at the moment, according to a report from The Verge. Their sources have mentioned that Microsoft’s Windows Phone engineering team is currently testing the Qualcomm MSM8960 1.5GHz dual-core SoC to make it ready for at least one Windows Phone 8 handset to be released later this year. In addition to rumors about the phone being tested, they say that Sprint is also interested in carrying this device and might not release any more Windows Phone devices until Windows Phone 8 is released.
As usual we can’t confirm the rumors for you, so take them with a pinch of salt, but if all goes as said then we should expect some dual-core Windows Phone devices by the end of the year. It might have taken awhile, but it looks like Microsoft is almost catching up to the competition when it comes to hardware. Then again, we’ll be seeing an influx of quad-core Android phones this year, so it might take awhile more. Who’s holding out for a dual-core Windows Phone device?
