Lytro Light Field Camera gets a teardown
If you’re keen on finding out what makes your Lytro Light Field Camera tick without taking yours apart, you’ll be glad to know that some photographs of the camera taken apart have surfaced thanks to the FCC. Inside it is revealed that the camera features a Marvell Avastar 88W8787 SoC – which is pretty interesting because the chip is capable of WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. This means that there’s a possibility of wireless exporting capabilities being unlocked via an update in the future.
Other than that there’s nothing out of the ordinary; we can see the Lytro’s tiny 1.5″ LCD display, its 11 Megaray image sensor, a Zoran ZR364246BGXX processor, Samsung flash memory and a Hynix SDRAM chip. In case you aren’t familiar with the Lytro Light Field Camera, it is a special camera that lets you shoot first and focus later. It is up for pre-order on the Lytro website at $399 each for the 8GB version while the 16GB version will cost you $499.
