Google’s Andy Rubin reassures they will not play favorites with Motorola
When Google announced their plans to acquire Motorola Mobility, many were curious and worried about what Google’s plans for the company were. Some have speculated that Google might be interested in churning out Android handsets of their own and ultimately closing off Android to other manufacturers, and it was these sentiments that caused antitrust regulators apprehension when it came to approving the deal. However Google’s Andy Rubin has stepped forward once again to reassure the public that they will not be playing favoritism.
According to Andy Rubin, Google has “literally built a firewall” between the Android team and Motorola, going as far as saying, “I don’t even know anything about their products, I haven’t seen anything […] They’re going to continue building Motorola branded devices and it’s going to be the same team doing it.” Unfortunately this means that future Motorola phones will still be shipped with Motorola’s custom UI overlaying Android. “They’re separate from me, and I’m going to continue to do my thing.”
