For those wondering, the STA basically allowed Google to test their devices in the real world setting, as opposed to testing it in a lab. Such a request was filed last week that let Google employees test an “entertainment device” in their homes, and now this new filing is for the testing of a “next generation personal communication device”. Google has filed an STA with the FCC to allow them to test 102 of these devices in Mountain View, LA, New York and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Naturally the specifics and details of said device remain a mystery for now, but what we do know is that it supports both Bluetooth and WiFi, which to be honest doesn’t really tell us much. However, more information on the STA filed can be found over at the FCC’s website. So what do you guys think Google is up to this time?
