Unlocked Nokia Lumia 800 to be sold in Microsoft Stores
[CES 2012] Thinking of purchasing a Nokia Lumia 800 that’s not tied to a carrier? It looks like you won’t have to get it imported or look for a third-party retailer anymore. Today at the CES 2012 keynote, Microsoft announced that it will be selling unlocked versions of the Nokia Lumia 800 at various Microsoft Store retail locations in the coming months. No word on how much these unlocked devices will cost, but if you’re looking for a Lumia 800 that can accept SIM cards other than those of your carrier, this news is for you.
Hopefully the phone won’t be outdated by then – with attractive new phones like the 4G LTE capable Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC TITAN 2 on the way, consumers might buy those Windows Phone devices instead and just switch to a cheap feature phone when going overseas. How does an unlocked Lumia 800 sound to you?
