Polaroid SC1630 smart camera runs on Android

[CES 2012] Remember last year’s Polaroid outing at CES that saw the launch of the Lady Gaga GL20 glasses? Well, this year there is no such celebrity pulling power, but that does not mean Polaroid does not have anything interesting to offer the masses. The Polaroid SC1630 is an Android-powered smart camera which will boast a high definition 16-megapixel camera that has built-in 3X optical zoom, a touchscreen display on the flipside and Wi-Fi connectivity, letting you upload snapped photos to social networks with but a single button press. You need not have to make the choice between a smartphone or a point-and-shoot entry level digital camera when it comes to casual photos, as the Polaroid SC1630 smart camera does the job just right – where it is more or less an Android device without phone capabilities, so to speak.

You can also shoot scenes with improved quality thanks to 18 scene modes to choose from, and previewing them on the 3.2″ widescreen display makes your job easier in weeding out the lousier shots. Want to capture portraits? That’s not a problem, with automatic face and smile detection kicking into action, while the Smart Album feature will enable the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera to automatically organize photos by date, location and people. Heck, this is a holiday staple as well since geo-tagging features will allow you to add longitude and latitude coordinates to photos. All photos are stashed on a microSD memory card (up to 32GB in size). Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity lets you share your images easily, and with support for Google’s Android Market, I will not be surprised to see folks using this to play games whenever they are bored.
