PlayStation Vita prices expected to drop?

The PlayStation Vita definitely is an impressive piece of hardware, but despite all the new bells and whistles that the console brings, it isn’t selling like hot cakes in Japan. The device has only been in sale for two weeks now, but it’s been reported that sales have been dropping significantly. During its first week, the Vita sold about 325,000 units in the first 48 hours, but in the following week it only sold 72,479 units.

While Sony has yet to announce any official price cuts for the gaming console, some retailers have been reported to have slashed the prices of the 3G model by up to 20%. Forbes predicts that Sony will be making some price cuts of their own in the coming weeks, so folks in the US and Europe might be paying a lower fee when the Vita finally goes on sale in this part of the world.
