Nikon D700 and D300S officially discontinued, successors imminent?

Heads up folks, if you’ve been meaning to get your hands on either the Nikon D700 (pictured above) or the D300S, you might want to hurry as both cameras have been listed as officially discontinued on Nikon Japan’s website. This means that whatever stock is left is probably the only remaining stock left, although on a more deeper level, this could indicate that possible successors to either camera could be on their way.

There have been rumors that Nikon could be releasing the Nikon D800 camera although nothing has been confirmed yet, and with the D300S already on the chopping block, could a possible D400 be imminent as well? The D800 was previously rumored to see a launch by the end of last year, but instead Nikon fans were treated to the Nikon D4 instead. While the D800 still remains somewhat of a rumor for now, its rumored specs includes a 4fps shooting mode along with Full HD video recording at 1080p.

The D400 on the other hand is merely speculation since there really hasn’t been any rumblings surrounding the possibility of the camera. Either way, some believe that the D800 (and possibly the D400?) could be making an appearance at the CP+ Photography show which will be taking place in Japan at the beginning of February.
