LG X3 quad-core smartphone revealed

2011 might be the year of dual-core processors in smartphones, so what happens when the days and months roll over to 2012? The answer might lie in doubling the number of cores (Moore’s Law is applied somewhat here), as the revealed LG X3 smartphone offers a quad-core processor. This is in line with the HTC Edge (aka Endeavor), not to mention the Galaxy S II’s successor that is simply dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S III for the moment. There is a Tegra 3 chipset inside the LG X3, not to mention a generous 4.7″ high-resolution display on the outside at 1,280 x 720 resolution, all without going beyond 9mm in terms of thickness – how about that for clever design? The rear packs an 8-megapixel shooter, while on the flip side lies a 1.3-megapixel camera. Apart from 16GB of internal memory, you can further augment the final amount with a microSD memory card.

Pundits expect the LG X3 to run on the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and there is also a chance of LTE connectivity thrown into the mix to keep bosom buddies WiFi and Bluetooth company. Here is to Mobile World Congress next month, where hopefully LG will reveal more about the X3 then.
