Infinity Ward hints at Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4?

Are we getting close to the arrival of the next generation consoles? Possibly. There are rumors going around saying that we’ll be seeing the next Xbox (tentatively named Xbox 720) being revealed this year, while Sony has denied that it will be releasing the PlayStation 4 before the PlayStation 3’s 10-year life cycle.

But what we do know is that game developers might have already started or will be starting to develop games for those upcoming consoles soon. According to a recent job listing by Infinity Ward (the folks behind Call of Duty), the company is looking for a Senior Animator to work on the 10^th Call of Duty release that is slated for a late 2013 release. Candidates should have experience in game development and an interest in working with “next-generation technologies.”

Sure, “next-generation technologies” is a pretty vague statement. After all it could mean working with a brand new console, though it could also mean a brand new engine that the company has developed. I guess we’ll never know until somebody spills the beans. Hopefully we won’t need to wait too long to find out what Infinity Ward meant by the job listing.
