Envision Gamecube has no disc drive
If you want something done (your way), then doing it yourself is the best way to go. I know that the Nintendo Gamecube has been reimagined a few times by those with a knack for DIY projects, and ModRetro member Jonathan Shine has decided to turn the Gamecube into a portable version known as the Envision Gamecube. Doing so on your own is no mean task to begin with, but Jonathan decided to up the ante by making sure this puppy does not come with any optical disc drive, preferring instead to rely on an SD memory card slot that is loaded with legal and legitimate backups of games that he already has. After all, you do not want the relevant authorities to come knocking on his door sometime in the middle of the morning and perform a raid while slapping him with an insane fine, do you? Jonathan’s effort, the Envision Gamecube, measures around 1.375″x 6.5″ x 4.125″ and has a battery life of around 2 to 3 hours on a solitary charge. Check out a video of it in action after the jump.
