However Steve Jobs did mention back in 2010 that the availability of FaceTime over 3G is pending negotiations with the carriers, and it looks like those negotiations are starting to pay off in Germany. According to an alleged internal sales documentation belonging to Deutsche Telekom, parent company of T-Mobile, a paid option for “VoIP/FaceTime” is mentioned, which seems to suggest that subscribers of Deutsche Telekom in Germany could be close to being able to utilize FacTime over the carrier’s 3G network.
Naturally we can’t confirm the authenticity of this alleged document, but optimistically we are hoping that this turns out to be true as it could lead to more carriers starting to offer a similar service on their networks. Until then, subscribers on Deutsche Telekom’s networks should probably take this with a grain of salt for now and not get their hopes up just yet.
