ASUS Transformer Prime to receive “root tool” in February
When the ASUS Transformer Prime was released, users discovered that the bootloader of the device was locked. What this means for those unfamiliar is that customization and running tweaked software would be a near-impossible task, and it was a move that the mod-heavy Android community was definitely not a fan of. Well the good news for ASUS Transformer Prime owners is that according to a tweet by ASUS, a “root tool” for the tablet is expected some time in February.
Although in a quick glance it does seem like good news, but the term “root tool” without reference to the bootloader specifically might be cause for some concern. Perhaps the person who wrote the tweet assumed that a “root tool” and unlocking the bootloader were the same thing (in which case this is cause for unnecessary concern), or they could be referring to something else entirely. But either way assuming that there are no delays, we should be able to get a clearer picture of what ASUS has in store come February 2012.
