Asus tablet demonstrates Tegra 3, Transformer Prime gets ICS update
[CES 2012] This particular post does not bode well for Amazon Kindle Fire owners, simply because it costs $50 more than your Kindle Fire and can do so much more. Just in case you do not know how much the Kindle Fire costs, the Asus Transformer Prime “successor” will retail for $249, so go ahead and do the math. This 7″ Tegra 3 (read our Tegra 3 overview for additional info) tablet will be powered by the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and the main reason it was developed was because Asus wanted to ‘create a device that would be good at anything people want to do.” – at least, that is what Asus CEO Jerry Shen shared at the NVIDIA Press Conference earlier today.
A demonstration of this tablet’s capability certainly left quite an impression – it played Flash files smoothly and browsed the Web remotely after “remoting” into a Windows 7-powered computer, allowing it to perform tasks that some might think runs natively on the tablet itself. Video playback was also impressive at 720p resolution without any dropped frames, and one thing that left no arrow in anyone’s knees was the ability to play Skyrim over the network via a Splashtop network PC connection – smoothly, I might add. Looks like this will be the Kindle Fire of 2012 until something better comes along, that is.
