Verizon Wireless confirms Galaxy Nexus software update

Verizon Wireless has confirmed that they will be rolling out a software update for the world’s first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich powered smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. This particular software update is said to fix the wireless signal strength indicator by making minor adjustments in order to better reflect the kind of signal strength you are receiving on the smartphone. This software update is released in under a week after the Galaxy Nexus starts to ship. Could this be the Android 4.0.3 leaked update?

Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney did not mention the exact date of the software update’s release, although some Verizon service reps did inform customers that January would be a safe bet. I say the sooner the better, what about you? According to Raney, the Galaxy Nexus update “will adjust the signal strength indicator to more closely match other Verizon Wireless devices.” Hopefully it will not just offer a psychological boost but rather, will offer a more accurate reflection of the network’s signal strength.
