Street Fighter IV HD heads for Android platform

Capcom has plans to deliver a bunch of their popular franchises over to the Android operating system for quite some time already, so it is nice to see some of those plans being turned into reality – starting with Street Fighter IV HD, thanks to LG teaming up with Capcom. In order to kick things off on a large scale, there will be a multi-national championship that comprises of Korea, Japan, and North America, where each of these three countries will hold a qualifying tournament, and the top finalists from each event will be flown to Seoul, South Korea, where they will slug it out on TV across 5 episodes. These matches will be broadcaster over on the Korean cable game channel known as OnGameNet. The US tournament will see over $21,000 of prize money up for grabs.

The AT&T LG Nitro HD and LG Optimus LTE (for Korea and Japan) will be exclusive handsets for Street Fighter IV HD, as Capcom had specially optimized their signature franchise for dual-core processor action. Time to dust off those PlayStation thumbs, no?
