Sharp announces the AQUOS IS14SH for KDDI

Sharp has been putting out some pretty interesting Android handsets in their AQUOS series of Android smartphones. Their offerings usually go beyond the standard full touch screen and they usually incorporate feature phone-like designs, such as sliders and clamshell designs with numeric keypads.

Well it looks like Sharp is back at it again with the AQUOS IS14SH Android smartphone with a slideout numeric keypad. Featuring a 3.7” 960×540 New Mobile ASV Liquid crystal panel touch screen display, it will reveal a numeric keypad when it has been slid open. It will run on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3 with an 8MP CMOS camera with 720p HD video recording capabilities, and much like the rest of the phones in Japan, will come with a 1seg TV tuner on board.

The rest of its specs include microSDHC card support, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and will be available on KDDI’s network. Unfortunately no word if Sharp has plans to bring this phone over to Japan. Hopefully Sharp will soon start to follow in Panasonic’s footsteps and start looking at making their portfolio of Android smartphones available internationally.
